GIFT GUIDE: New Mom, Parents, or Mom-to-be
While many new parents receive gifts for baby, this guide is created to make Mom (or Dad!) feel good. The items here might make life with an infant a little easier or act as reminders that parents need to fill their own cup in order to give their best to their babe.
Baby carrier: This wrap carrier is simple, soft and beautiful. Besides keeping baby cozy and close, giving a little “womb service”, it will help free up their hands. You can give a parent their hands back!
Pillow case: When Mom finally gets into bed, she will feel like a princess resting her head on this pillow case. It will also help to keep that (potentially unwashed…) hair healthy and beautiful.
Hair clips: Often it's the little things like these pretty clips that can make a pregnant or postpartum person feel cute and like themselves. They are also helpful for keeping hair out of those strong grabbing baby hands.
Kindle Paperwhite: I have always been a fan of reading physical books over e-readers, but now with a baby, both Collin and I are using our Kindles more than ever before (and reading lots of books!). Reading from the Kindle while holding baby, especially in a dark nursery, is way easier and more convenient than a book.
Elvie Breast Pump: Give her an Elvie and she will give you sweet kisses for life. Also a hug because she will have her hands free and feel very liberated!
Water bottle: It’s especially important for the pregnant, postpartum, or nursing mom to stay on top of her water intake. I love these glass bottles because they help you track your water intake throughout the day.
Eye mask: Parents will probably need to sleep at odd times of day (sleep when the baby sleeps!) Help them block out the light to get better zzz’s with a beautiful silk eye mask that also helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
Weighted body wrap: Help them feel a little pampered during nursing sessions or ease the tension in her shoulders from new parent stress and hours of carrying baby around
Instant Pot: Cooking is so hard with a newborn, but staying nourished is more important than ever. Help her out by buying / cooking her some meals, signing her up for a meal delivery service, or sending her the amazing insapot to make cooking way easier.
Apple Watch: 1 never saw a need or had a desire for an Apple Watch until I became a mom. With so much time spent holding baby, I really do love the convenience of it. It also reminds me to do some of the helpful self-care things like take deep breaths and stand up when I have allowed baby to turn me into a human couch.
Earrings: She does not have a lot of extra time to pick out cute (or even clean) outfits, put on make-up, do her hair, but she does have time to put on a pair of beautiful earrings.
Haaka: If she’s giving her baby breast milk, she can't have too many haakas. I’m very grateful to the friend who thought to send me this (and a bottle drying rack) right away! It’s great to have extra to store in the car and by the bed.
Pajamas: She really can't have too many nursing-friendly pajamas either. They are perpetually hanging out in the laundry bin, covered in breast milk or spit up.
Cozy blanket: Anything to help parents feel more cozy with all the time they are spending at home with baby. It’s really nice to have a soft blanket around during nursing sessions.
Phone photo printer: Their phone is already full of baby pics, but the nursery could use some wall decor (because does anyone really have time for that?) They will LOVE the ability to instantly print out those cute photos.
Shower cap: Sometimes they may only have 60 seconds to shower and you have the power to help Mom do that, feel cute and keep the hair dry. I love this cute shower cap! It has held up very well for me.
The best leggings: In my opinion, a new mom or dad cannot have too many comfy pants. And the BEST are these leggings with pockets (remember Mom has no hands anymore- pockets are life). I also wore these throughout my entire pregnancy (you might consider buying the size up for pregnancy).
Hair mask: The showers may not be frequent, but they will want to make the most out of them when they happen. Help Mom care for her postpartum hair with this awesome hair mask. I love it.
Vacuum: They do not have much free time or hands to vacuum. Either treat them to a cleaning service, come over and help out yourself or just order them a magical robot vacuum.
And a little guide of special gift sets, great for the holiday season or any time of year.
